Heart ache

Heart ache is not exclusive to one side of argument. Everyone loses when there's an argument, anyone who thinks he is the only victim should think again.

Walls shouldn't exist between family members, relatives, or even friends. There is no reason for anyone to wear a mask everyday to please someone you love or care for, more so with family members. Same goes for the opposite, there shouldn't be barriers to voice out reasonable dissatisfaction or feelings. Showing disgruntled actions and behaviours to protest your heart ache does not solve problems. If anything, it only worsen the already sour relationship.

Talking is the best remedy.

Having so many true friends whom I can truly call my extended family has taught me how to take things easy and always count the blessings. There is no point expecting so much while never conveyed your intention and get disappointed every time it doesn't happen the way you want it. Everyone is different in this world, no two souls can live together and not have different opinions of any matters, so placing one's expectations on another without telling him/her is simply as bad as destroying a relationship.

I want to be a man. I'm tired of being treated like a girl/daughter/lady who is suppose to understand every single emotion or feelings a woman has. There is nothing more confusing and heart breaking than seeing someone I love protesting through actions, girlfriends alike.

It's tiring. I can't be myself anymore because I need to say things not from my heart. I can't say the right thing; I can't tell the truth because truth hurts; I can't say what's on my mind being afraid that it's not what others want to hear (and hence protest through actions); I can't be myself because it's not natural/jovial enough; I can't stop people I love from doing things because I care for them, afraid that it is just that they want to do.

I can feel painful stabs in my heart, but I know it's not exclusive to me, but also to the people I love whom I have hurt unintentionally/unknowingly.

I love you dad, mom, two sis and friends. Please have mercy on me, spare me from your emotional torture. Talk things through with me/the person whom you're dissatisfied with, keeping it to oneself is okay as long as you don't start torturing others with emotional protests. Talk things through, shout or cry if you need, just don't make me suffer by keeping me in the dark. I hate cold wars. I want to be myself.

I watched all Grey’s Anatomy season 6 episodes in 3 days, the plot and the people taught me lots of things, made me reflect on my life once in a while.

The saying that gave me the strongest impression was by an old man, who said:

Does that mean it’s better to keep the milestones for later so you have something to hope for? XD

Well, to me, at least I want to have something to look forward to when I’m old, or after I die, which is uniting with my heavenly father (and my family). Yes, I wished.

Question of the day – and my answer

Why do people always have to “interpret” or “explain” or “breakdown” the bible verses? Why can’t they be used as per written?

Those who have been to a Sunday service will definitely have come across a time when the speaker/pastor saying:

“What this passage saying is:…”

“What it means here is …”

“What the bible is trying to tell us here is…”

“The word … here means … which doesn’t mean …”

Isn’t it weird the verses are “interpreted” as if that’s what they want to believe? No, you’ll say, because they’ll continue with a clarification of:

“We can see that from the scripture … that relates to this sentence”

“Cannot be taken out of context …”

Even back in the AC it is required that a priest (who is highly ranked) is needed to to explain scriptures as found in Nehemiah 8:7, 8, and Acts 8:26-39, for example.

Many times, when I read the Bible, it just doesn’t make sense, but somehow the speaker will twist is so that it means something. May be “twist” is too contentious a word, but I want to stress the fact that I have come across so many instances where words are simply made redundant because of the interpretation the speaker wants to convey.

Sometimes, I feel myself stop short of an explanation to myself when I read a passage: Why do I keep “explaining” and trying to “interpret” what it means in the passage? ugh.. the writers should have written it in a simpler language! It makes me wonder whether I’m even interpreting it correctly. Holy Spirit’s guidance? You don’t even know if it’s your thought or not!

That is why in many cases I feel myself shivering of fear, fear of whether the scriptures have been used as a tool to control people, interpreted to mean what the interpreter wants it to be. And worse still, this is just one little question that bugs me from time to time when I sit below the pulpit listening to the “interpreter”.

As stated in the topic, my answer would be that the language of those days are not as established and vocabulary not as myriad as today’s dictionaries; adding to the fact that different cultures uses different words to explain certain matters, making it necessary to have an “interpreter” today who will consider all facts, circumstances, cultural background, “in context”, language limitations and translation errors before explaining it to the people under the pulpit.

But the question still lingers: Why then, do you need interpreters in the past? How sure are they that it doesn’t mean what is literally written in the Bible? Why then, are there instances when you want them (verses) to be read as it is and sometimes be interpreted (when it doesn’t sound right)? Do they already have the answers and choose to believe what to say before searching for one?

hmmm……… May be I should get back to my studies, next week’s exam.

**I have nothing against Christianity, because I believe in God and that Jesus is my saviour, I’m just here to write out my thoughts, provoking more insights and enlightenments from whoever reading this post.**

End of semester is just around the corner, but I am not slowing down, because I have a project to start and hours of internship to be completed. So while I strive I'm going to start blogging too! My nuffnang earnings have stalled for a few months (not that it has always been rising).

So what better time to start blogging when I'm so busy finalizing this year's projects and reports? <-- that doesn't sound right, but I do find myself write more when I'm busy.

Cream (for men)!

In response to Genieve’s review of her 4 different brands of moisturizing cream used within 4 months, I’m writing 4 different brands for men to use that can last 3 years.

Today is Body Cream day. Statistically, I finished a bottle/jar of body cream every half a year, but I absolutely love trying all different sorts of brands and texture. For the past few years I have been getting (some free, some I bought) my body creams from local drug store, which means brands that are more economical (usually less than $10). i'm not very fussy with my body cream so I’ve been receiving some gifts from Aunty Joyce since day 1 I arrived Australia. I need body cream due to my sensitive and ultra dry skin caused by the inherited eczema.

so tonight I'm gonna review the 4 different brands of body cream which i have used in the past 3 years!

DermaVeen's Moisturizing Lotion.

One of the best cream available, DermaVeen does not contain paraben, fragrance, or lanolin so it’s perfect for my dry and sometimes itchy skin during winter. Somehow I have less itch when my eczema flares up after applying this cream. However I don’t really like the texture of it since it’s somewhat thick and difficult to apply onto my body, but I find it helps to apply right after shower when your skin is still a little moistured. The cream is petroleum-mineral free because it’s made of oatmeal, but due to its difficult-to-apply texture I’m going to give it a 4 star, but definitely recommended if you have eczema, because as long as I have this applied once every few days, eczema cannot flare up and sort of leave my skin a little supple throughout the day.

Vaseline Body Lotion.

Another well done body lotion. and cheap too! I've used the White one – fragrance-free, Healthy White (pink, came free) and the Aloe (green, my sister, June’s favourite). It was slightly heavy smelling and i felt like i was putting make up all over my body so it’s best to go with the white one. but i have to recommend the other green (Aloe’s smell is quite refreshing) and white because they are really good! for winter or spring i think they will work great. you will fall in love with them! 4 Stars because it’s not fragrance-free and it’s petroleum based.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Aveeno is another similar product to DermaVeen. I love them both because they are fragrance-free and moisturize the skin very well. Highly recommended to people with eczema and sensitive skin. I like this texture more than DermaVeen so I’m going to give a 5 star to the product!

Redwin’s Sorbolene Moisturizer

I always have a bottle of Sorbolene in my bathroom, used as a substitute when all other brands are finished. It moisturizes my skin very well and can be used as a shower cream, but avoid it whenever I can because it’s petroleum based hence not very good for the liver (according to Aunty Joyce). Nonetheless, it does its job keeping my skin moist and it’s also fragrance free. Again, good for eczema and very sensitive and dry skin. I’m giving this a 3 star.

after thought: i feel so amateurish writing this. but i do like to share because i'm constantly trying to avoid my eczema from flaring up. have fun with your body cream!!!

Today, not only has the Prime Minister been succeeded (I actually mean ousted) by PM Najib Tun Razak, the political stance is a lot more tense and racial complications is getting worse than ever before.

Just yesterday, I was referred to the article about a successful Malaysian oversea eagerly wanting to serve Malaysia when he comes back home, only to be faced with lopsided “equality” and heightening racism. Coincidentally or not, that was the day I got winnowed out for a job opportunity. I felt rejected. I felt like I was stuck in between 2 worlds, along with so many people who cannot find their voices back home or oversea. I don’t feel like I’m being treated as a citizen back home, neither do I in Australia (which in this case is because I am not born here and I don’t have a PR).

2 years ago, I still manage to harbour my hope for Malaysia in my blog post. 2 years later I lost my certainty, but I still love Malaysia because that’s where I grow up and where all my love, family, friends, and memories are. 2) Sister’s friends (couple) rented a room in the house, so this house’s gonna be quite crowded for awhile.

3) Uni started, foreseeing so many chores to be done, and the thought of doing them makes me run away from uni, and just want to stay home and sleep.

4) I’m looking for a vacation employment desperately. I pray that God will provide me with a job for my summer, if not I can’t graduate!

6) Am going to watch tv now and don’t want to see anything related to my uni, YET.

Meaning of a trip

Yes! I have just finished a “backpacking” trip in Hong Kong and a tour in Beijing. I know this post is kinda long overdue, but I gotta write this on my blog as it’s my only diary, though I must say I’ve abandoned it for aeons.

There are two things that I have learned in these trips:

1) To spend time with family during a holiday is best done when there’s a trip because we are forced to stay together, figuring out maps and looking out for each other every now and then. Staying at home doesn’t require this because everyone will be doing his/her own things and only meet during dinner, at least that’s what happen in my family. LOL

2) We will have muscular legs after touring 2 countries in a row.

Unfortunately again, my eldest sister couldn’t join us, but I’m sure there’ll be a day when we can all eat together on the same table again, which is what matters most.

I’m having exams currently, and loving it coz there’s no assignment or projects.. but because studying for exam is so boring (quote calvin), I decided to make it interesting by going to Altona Beach to study (turns out not a very good idea):

To be frank, it’s not really FML, the new office is so beautiful and high tech at the same time, with most things automatic including lights and doors, this is one of the best place to be working at:

Such a beautiful building, too bad I was so busy and I forgot to snap an aerial view of Melbourne from the office, where we are surrounded by clear glass walls.. oh, not to forget I forced myself to have my lunch at the beach (again) during my lunch break just, don’t know why I did that though.

Well, that’s pretty much what happened in my life, I’m also currently looking for a course-related job to get some experience in the engineering world. I am also looking forward to fly home to see my parents, i miss them so much!

I wished this post can be passworded like Teckie’s - wordpress, because somehow I feel writing online has gotten so much less secure compared to a few years back.

However, I think I should just write my day just to share my happiness with my family and friends.. no secrets here.

It’s my third year in uni and am having a project going on since the start of the semester. Although it’s nothing impressive, I have put so much effort into coordinating the whole project as a project coordinator through the semester and was really exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally. With reports and assignments piling to the roof and having to deal with team dynamics, presentation was one event we hate and love at the same time.

Love: It marks the end of semester 1.

Hate: Preparation.

After going through the slides with my team mates we managed to pull off a stunning presentation where we got direct compliments from the panel judges. But what made my day was that someone approached me later and told me there might be a possibility that he can offer me a part time job or may be a full time in one of the government sector.

I was overwhelmed of course, but I wouldn’t put my hopes high since there’s no vacancy yet and that there’s only a slim chance that I get it since I’m an international student. No words on when he’s gonna be replying me, but at least I know I’ve made an impression on someone and that I have at least 0.01% chance of getting internship with the government! (Allan is the person who approached me, a person with wisdom I really look up to.)

All these, are given back to the Lord who has blessed me abundantly, and my parents and sisters who keep encouraging me as I go through the ordeal of not being fully equipped with knowledge in the Engineering world, and also my those who willingly 施舍 water for me to drink, internet to download my presentation, and lent me a black belt just for the presentation.

Thanks ZW, Teckie, YY (for not playing dota with me), and Allan and the rest of my teammates for teaching me about patience, dedication and accepting diversities.

I don’t know since when I become such a passive person, in terms of involvement in group projects.

Or may be I just come to realize something that’s within me all this while. My idea got rejected, but am partly glad that it happened, because that just means that im not gonna be doing most of the planning and project development just because it was my idea (well that happened to me during the proposal time).. but thank God i have good teammates..

Super happy also because I know that I’ll be visiting President Mao’s picture and probably visit Andy Lau at 半山. Oh, won’t forget a bid or two in the casino!

Also super happy is that i’m shifting house soon, and i got an email from my past lecturer who can remember my name by full.

One last thing: iPhone. WAKAKAKA!!!

I’ve always felt a tinge of sadness when i think of my age, ever since i was 19. This melancholy feeling is so weird i don’t understand why it is even in my heart, i’m pretty sure it’s not because i’m old.

As i grow older, the reason becomes clearer to me: it’s because my parents are getting older, too. I miss them so much i hope one day this feeling will subside and actually turns into actions that justify my love for them. Take care dad, mom.

**Although i published this post, i really hope my parents aren’t going to read this, because i know they always live like they’re still 30 – young at heart! LOL

1) Changed 2 hand-phones, visited hundreds of places, travelled thousands of kilometers.. That’s what happened in the past 2 months when I wasn’t blogging.

2) Back in Malaysia now, weather is hot and humid, can’t imagine this is where i grew up.

3) Helped around the house in preparation for CNY celebration and now waiting for the arrivals of my sisters.

4) Yum Char with friends and learning how to hack. Customized my desktop but dissected 4 PCs.

5) Notice a change in blogging style that resembles that of Tun Mahathir. Can’t help it.

Golden Seconds

寂寞的季节

考完试了，但心情一点都不开心，生活变得非常平淡。别人知道我喜欢考试觉得很奇怪，其实众所不知的是这现象是因为寂寞而引起，所以喜欢上学去至少可以跟朋友聊聊天，吃吃饭。现在，除了做工以外，真的没有一个人是可以跟我讲笑话，说闲话。

咳！做人真难。小时候还不是没有的跟朋友出去玩，还不是一样不会闷？现在有了facebook, msn, youtube 还有一大堆的连续剧，却觉得更空虚，无奈。

刚才读了 Whywai 的 blog 之后觉得更伤心，因为想起了明年是时候 major 我大学的 bachelor。因为我喜欢电子工程, 所以选择了做 Electronics and Communication Engineering。可是一旦知道我所有的同学都作 Electrical Engineering 的时候就感到有点害怕，将来有问题怎么办？这是不是我应该作的？我有本事单人完成 project 吗？吓死我了。

爸妈都要来了，这些我都会放开一边，不会让不好的心情影响他们的假期。明年的事就等明年才烦吧。

It’s my 21st, and I had a fantastic day.

Thanks everyone for your wishes, and I am very touched indeed.

What I know is that I received more than a hundred wishes on facebook, in the morning;

and not long after I finish replying all, I receive another 70+ wishes in an interval of 3 hours..

I tried replying to all your wishes but felt tired after awhile, so it’s no wonder you receive a reply as long as a “Thank you”.. HAHA

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME.. I LOVE YOU ALL

To my dad and mom (who were among to first to wish me and gave me their words of wisdom), I love you both and I will always remember what you said; to my sisters, I love you all too and thanks for your wishes, I can’t wait for our reunion in 2 months’ time!

Not forgetting my beloved aunty and uncle who celebrated my birthday at a swish Japanese restaurant, and then later treated me a heart-warming MAX BRENNER chocolate Soufle as dessert, it was marvellous! Thank you!

On top of all these, I thank God for his blessings, peace, guidance, care, wisdom and love He gave me for the past 21 years, it’s a milestone to me and I’m glad I get to live till this day, hence noting this down as a milestone in my blog.

Back to stressful life tomorrow! **but there’s always a time to slip out and celebrate with my friends and family on friday, saturday and sunday!!** Test next week and exam in three weeks time, projects being presented and assignments being finalized.. AH.. and I’ll be a free man in 1 month’s time!

I miss writing on my blog dearly.

I use to write whenever I am busy.. but it seems like my blogging time has been rescinded and no goading will persuade me to write here for some time, judging that I did not even blog about the important things that have happened in the past month.. T.T

And I miss video chatting with my mom, dad and sis online… and my dogs too.

Looks like it’s gonna be awhile before I can sit down and blog again, so that means there’s gonna be no more readers, which is good, then I can blog whatever I like!

Day 2

Slept through the night, woke up and headed for Mount Lofty where we were suppose to see the whole of Adelaide from the hill, but due to the fog we couldn’t get a glimpse of even the koala hugging the tree 50m away from us. It was an exciting trip nonetheless because I get to spend time with my friends, and new friends!

Next destination was Mt Barker where we bumped into the strawberry farm that made Beerenberg jam, and later a German town called Hahndorf which has lots of historical buildings.

The must-eats when you’re in Hahndorf (according to the big eater): FUDGE, GERMAN SAUSAGES AND GERMAN CAKES. And we ate just that.

Headed to the city that night to see the night life of Adelaide: Rundall St, the happening place! (Melbourne’s Bourke St) – in a train as long as 1 carriage, cute!

Day 3

Took a trip to Port Adelaide only to know that it does not open on Saturdays. Went to the city for lunch at a Noodle Shop (味千) and then to Coles to buy some groceries, because we’re making our own pizza dinner!

Later that night we self-karaoke using the computer till it’s time to sleep.. FUN FUN FUN!

Day 4

Went back to Port Adelaide and boarded the dolphin cruise, but we were almost frozen by the chilly gusts! Sze Yin then invited me to her house for steamboat, thanks to ZW and YY!!

Day 5

Slept over at Sze Yin’s house and Wii boxing and tennis in the morning. Headed towards Barossa Valley to the wineries and cellar doors for wine tasting!! They all smelled wonderful, but taste the same – don’t know how to taste la..

Day 6

I decided to walk around the city and to my surprise, i actually circled the city of Adelaide on foot in just 3 hours! Of course that includes sight seeing and snapping photos. The botanical garden was my favourite and again to my surprise i notice how similar Adelaide city is to Melbourne.

- Melbourne city centre, like Adelaide’s, is gridded and systematic.

- Adelaide’s North Terrace, the equivalent of Swanston St has 2 universities, Royal Melb/Ade Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital, a botanical garden and an ANZAC shrine.

- The Shopping Street (Rundall in Adelaide and Bourke in Melbourne)

We then went for movie at night at Westfield. We watched Ice Age 3 at the 3D cinema, this time with the polarized glasses!!!! It was FANTASTIC!

That’s not all, we then went for supper at China Town after the cinema. Although the food wasn’t satisfying, but I’m glad I get to make 2 new friends!

Day 7

Today, thanks again to Bryan who drove us there, we went to Victor Harbour, south of Adelaide. We first had our lunch at a nearby restaurant where I had KANGAROO FILLET!!! THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EATING KANGAROO MEAT! It was okay but I still prefer chicken. Not a very good experience because the biggest piece was rather rare.. :(

Victor Harbour was breathtaking. They even have horse-driven carriages to bring visitors across the bridge!

Day 8

Nothing much, went to Big W for window shopping with gen and bryan.. then went back home for a rest.. good long rest.. whoa.. 享受！

Day 9

Bryan drove us to Glenalg, Adelaide’s version of St Kilda St, where there’s a tram route in between the road leading to the famous beach.. The Glenalg Beach!

After strolling along the route to the beach in the cold breeze, we went to the Chocolate Bar on Jetty Road just near Glenalg Beach and indluge ourselves in CHOCOLATES!!!!!!!!! We had chocolate drinks and chocolate fondue.. my heart melted when i sat there and relax..

We ended our night with a banquet at a Japanese restaurant in China Town (Wasai) having lots of.. well, rare food.. scrumptious!

Day 10

It’s my last day in Adelaide. We went to Pancake Steak house in the city for dinner and then went for karaoke for 2 hours.. had a blast for the last time! Gonna stay up late coz i’ll be leaving at 6 am to the train station at Keswick (read as CARE-SIK)..

Last but not least, thank you Bryan, Genieve, Janice, Emily and Chloe for being good hosts during my sojourn in Adelaide. The most precious thing i get in Adelaide apart from the rest is the friendship that I make, knowing good people like you all! I wish we’ll meet again soon!

Today is one of the days I don’t snooze my alarm clock at all – I woke up right after the first milisecond ring.

Today, I’m heading to Adelaide!

Somehow, walking in the cold during the wee hours doesn’t feel cold at all compared to when I go to the University every morning. Somehow, time passes too quickly. Somehow, everyone seems to be carrying a smile on their face. Somehow, I notice that I CAN’T STOP SMILLING J

Euphoria might be an understatement even to describe my feelings when the train departed Southern Cross Station. Just minutes after leaving the hustles and bustles of Melbourne at 8:05am, I was reassured that I did not make a mistake in taking The Overland (train) to Adelaide. The endless green on my either sides with spores of trees brushing the horizon is definitely more invigorating than sitting in a plane looking at wools of clouds underneath.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t snap a picture that can really depict what I see. After many futile trials I decided to stop trying because this is an experience one should try himself, that no pictures can really bring through to a person’s life just by showing pictures, so sitting back and relaxing on the train seems to be a more sensible thing to do.

Looking at the sceneries rolling pass me is not tiring at all, in fact, I say it’s a substitute for my sleep! I’ve never felt so relaxed before as today for my life in Melbourne. Most importantly, I will be able to meet up with my neighbour aka ex-school mate aka sister & brother in Christ when I arrive Adelaide. Never had I felt so excited for what’s coming up, partly because this trip is much more a get-away trip and do nothing rather than a planned itinary which is, in my humble opinion, just looking at lifeless monuments built by human.

Even as I write, I peek out the window into the lush greens in front of me, accompanied by a smile on my face each time and a heart filled with joy, the joy of seeing the creation of God, the joy of being able to quiet down myself and ponder dreamily out the window.

Without realising, Adelaide is just 2 hours from when I am now, and my heart silently begs to have more time to “train” my butt (Genieve’s term).

Upon arrival, dinner was served! – at a chinese restaurant. :D

Nonetheless, I miss my father, mother and my sister in Malaysia. Dad’s birthday is drawing near and I’m gonna miss it again.. sigh.

I’ve always love to have a to-do list during exam period, it keeps me fuelled to finish the remaining papers, which in fact, not as easy as when I don’t do a to-do list that reminds me of the “rewards” I ALLOW myself to have IF I don’t screw up my study plan..

so I better behave myself now, though I’ve been letting myself slack countless times, thanks to Facebook.

Here it comes: Warning lots of words

1) SHOPPING! Not for myself though, but for a friend (cannot be disclosed due to her request)

2) DRAMA! Oh.. how I miss being wrapped in the comforter with the comedy played!

3) SLEEP .. have had some sleepless nights, but won’t have too much lest I have less time for the other plans

4) TRANSFORMER.. ROAR! Thanks to Whywai, we’ve already got a place with iMax on Saturday, just hope that we’ll get a good seat, might have to camp outside the cinema for early bird entry..

5) SPRING CLEANING … My room (yes, filthy), and my laptop (collection of dust is affecting the performance)

6) REFORMAT MY LAPTOP.. Windows 7 RC is definitely a MUST-TRY. Have been using it for almost 3 quarter of a year now, LOVE IT so far

7) ADELAIDE!!!!! Here I come with a camera!! it’s gonna be a blast and I’m glad I’ll be able to catch up with my friends in SA.

8) PAINT THE WALL – featured wall to be painted for my aunty.. gonna be a fun project!

9) BIBLE READING! Miss reading it like I’m reading an academic book..

10) IPHONE UPDATES!!! Prices are coming out next week in Melbourne. AND THIS TIME 3 (THREE) IS

IN THE LEAGUE PROVIDING THE NEWEST IPHONE 3GS WITH ONLINE TETHERING!!!! ARGH! >.< I WANT ONE!

I was sound asleep yesterday night, not knowing that back in Seremban, a group of people are surrounding a person who’s gasping for air, for her last breath.

She was a very stern teacher, yet motherly and kind towards students. I presume she must be the same even after I left my primary school, continuing her noble career educating the young, shining their paths. She was my school’s assistant headmistress, my mom’s colleague, also my kindergarten cum primary school friend’s mother.

As I thought of the fact that she’s gone now, I tried very hard to remember memories about her but to no avail. I really want to remember at least one special incident involving her but none was retrieved, may be it’s better that way.. at least I will never forget her as a very responsible and wise teacher, and that’s how I see of her even when I was still a kid.

On another note, my friend (whose brother also my sister’s friend) must be in such a grieve to lose her mother this way.. as I got to know, she had cancer for awhile already.

All my condolences to you, Lai Yan and family. It’s been such a long time since we met or contacted, and unfortunately I haven’t got your contact anywhere. Take care and be strong. The Lord’s with you.

As for the states in Australia, Victoria, of which its capital is Melbourne City, HAS THE HIGHEST RECORD OF COMFIRMED CASES OF H1N1 INFLUENZA!!

Shockingly, the number of cases recorded in Victoria is substantially surpassing all other states, even if compared to the total of cases added in all other states..

Tak entah mengapa, tiba-tiba saya rasa blogging dengan Bahasa Melayu, mungkin saja ilham memenuhiku, mungkin saja saya riang ada orang tak akan faham apa saya tulis (kawan-kawanku di Melbourne); apa jua sebab itu, saya rasa sangat gembira hari ini.

Gembira sebab apa, mesti kau tanya - saya pun tak tahu, tapi saya tahu sudah lama saya tak blog di sini, lagi lama saya tak guna saya punya FOOBLE TALK – hampir ditutup servisnya!

Ini adalah satu petunjuk saya sangat aktif dan busy minggu-minggu yang lepas, belajar sambil bekerja tanpa mengetepikan kesihatan fizikal (saya bersenam ok..), mental, social (saya “wet” dengan kawan banyak lepas minggu), dan rohani (pergi Planet Shakers punya conference itu sangat intensif). Today I went to Tito and Sheila’s church – Place of Joy.

I’m glad I visited their church today, and I might actually change from “visit” to “attend” the church very soon if it’s really God’s will..

The church is awesome, ignoring the fact that it is Indo speaking, the church is so spiritually filled. I can’t explain everything with words alone, because if I try to using my limited vocabulary, it may sound very artificial and as if I am feeling the church using my feelings and my thoughts at the same time.

There’s one thing that come straight to my mind when I step into the church:

“I WANT TO BRING PEOPLE THERE AND SEE GOD”

I hope I can frequent that church very soon!!

YES! Easter holiday is here and I’ll have a week off uni!!

Now I’m super relaxed (studying and doing assignments) because I know whatever I do is out of my free will. No one is giving me a due date for every petty things I do!

I’m looking forward for the 4-day conference held by Planet Shakers at Etihad Stadium (previously know as Telstra Dome).. >.< i can’t wait for it to come, but it’s going to take away my 4 precious holi-day!! LOL..

I’ve been extremely busy for the past two weeks, and I felt good having a day off for myself today.

I’ve never felt so good pushing aside all my responsibilities and works;

sleep, eat, and watch drama as I want to.

Tomorrow I want to have another good day at church too, before I start my work and uni all over again, expecting more assignments and projects in the next week.

I’m afraid I’ll get addicted to this kind of rest though.. tests and exams are coming up, hopefully i’ll buck up and start doing something for myself, my dad and mom..

This is Year 2 all right.

I miss my dad and mom now, since they can’t go online for a few days due to the spoiled monitor.. >.<

Thank God for He’s always been with me, that I can stand all tests and hardship no matter what.

This post is so random I can’t even write chronologically, may be it’s the side effect of having a good rest after such a head start for uni..

My Childhood Horror

There’s one thing that scares me more than anything you can ever name – Clowns.

I am sure many of you will stand on my side when I say this because of a movie that was aired on our Malaysian TV in the 90’s, our childhood, doll playing period. It’s a period of our life when we are most attracted to colourful toys and venues, including circuses and clowns.

As far as I can remember, we were watching this movie together in the living room. I have no idea why I was watching that movie, neither do I want to try to recall. Dad should’ve just changed the channel!

Released on the 18th of November 1990, this movie has cast a shadow in most of my peers’ childhood.

I don’t deny I was afraid of clowns, but the fear has long gone ever since I have Christ in me.

But YES, I STILL HATE CLOWNS for some reason. LOL

For you guys who have never watched this movie, congrats, and try not to watch it. For those who did, please make a comment and I want to know how many of you were once like me – fear of clowns..

Who to be blamed? Stephen King the author, our parents who allowed us to watch? or ourselves for watching it!? LOL

Back to Melbourne

25th came at last, the day I’m flying back to Melbourne, the day I hate to face.

I was overcome by gloominess leaving the nest again, more so leaving my parents alone. My mom’s lugubriousness made it worse, knowing silently that what she felt is also what I feel.

As for my dad, he always poses the ‘cool’ side of him whenever we children fly away from home; but deep inside his heart, I know that he, too, misses us and wants us to be with him.

My sojourn in Malaysia has been an eventful one, not forgetting to mention that it has also been a mournful one, with my grandma leaving us on the eve of Chinese New Year. After a year away from home, I learn to appreciate things that I’ve always taken for granted and I am glad to have spent quality time with my family.

It seems so impossible for the 5 of us to be together as a family nowadays, but still God made a way for us to have a family reunion every year, and I believe we’ll always do that whenever possible.

Coming home has once again reminded me of how blessed I am to be able to study in Melbourne and to stay with my aunty. My sister’s migration can also be depicted as paving my future, determining the little details of my life in Melbourne. All praise to be the Lord.

Having said that, I can never express my gratitude to my family, especially my father and mother, for their important role in my life, and the cell group members who have prayed for me continually.

It’s near boarding time and I better get going. Soon, I’ll be in Melbourne and it’s another year ahead of me. Dad, Mom, I promise I will do my best in my studies and may God bless you and take care of you.

1 month and 1 day. That’s how long I’ve been back from Malaysia.

I love you Mommy and Daddy. I love you Angie and June. I love you grandma, my uncles, aunties and cousins. I love you ACS friends, Inti friends, Sino English friends, and RMIT friends.

Many ask why I keep saying I love you, I love him, I love her.. but the truth is that I have the urge to say it everytime I blog. I want to say it before it’s too late. Within 10 days I’m off to Melbourne again. Calvin already felt it harder this time around and I hope I will be ok.. most important of all, I hope my mom and dad are ok too.

Since coming back, many things happened.

Arrival of both sisters from over the sea.

Grandma going HOME.

Get together with in-law family.

CNY gathering with ACS friends, meet up with the teachers.

Penang trip with Sam to kiumo’s house.

Genting adventure, solero shot being the main attraction.

Inti friends gila time, dinner with Wei Yi, Teckie, Ms Voon and Ms Yap.

Time flies.. it really flies. I notice this since I was standard 6, when my eldest sister first left the house for Uni, and I still reckon it flies, if not faster now.

I’m so emo today.. but nothing to do with Valentine’s day, like YY. May be Carly’s right. I met too many old friends this holiday and I’m having the post-effect.

Nonetheless, this holiday is my lolli-day, no doubt. I cherish each and every moment I spent with my family and friends. cheers.

Penang Escapade

Sam and I embarked on a trip to Penang on the 3rd of Feb, and thanks to kiumo for accommodating us and bringing us around Penang, we get to experience Penang the way a tourist would experience Penang, and the way a backpacker would enjoy his stay in a cosy, home environment.

Unfortunately, the journey to the island is longer than expected because the departure of KESATUAN bus was DELAYED 1 hour, and it waited another HOUR at Pudu Station just to get more passengers.. argh.. I WON’T BUY KESATUAN BUS TICKET EVER AGAIN!

~~~We then cross the strait the “refugee” way, queuing up for the ferry at the jetty. ~~~

The experience was good, and it wasn’t like the “refugee” way at all, it’s just that we look like refugees being barred behind bars waiting for the ferry to anchor.. LOL

~~~We arrive just in time for dinner.~~~

Joining us was Kiumo’s girl friend, Michele. We had a great dinner at a hawker stall, but being charged RM12 for a bowl of TomYum noodle spoiled my first day’s makan marathon mood.. fortunately this is the one and only one stall that we went to that charges us more than they should..

Lots of good food, but too bad it was a bit pricy because it’s a tourist attraction. I felt so bad having to stop Sam from buying the cuttle fish with kankung dish. But I think SM’s is equally good since the kankung style comes from South Malaysia, so might as well eat it in Seremban!

Proceeded to the LokLok before we headed home for some sleep!

The next day morning, kiumo brought us with his friends to Penang National Park and we hiked for about 1 hour towards the quiet side of the island facing Indo. The beach was pristine but the sea water was extremely disappointing. So clean is the beach to be a breeding ground for the turtles, but so poisoned is the sea to nurture them. A walk along the shore made our feet black. What else can it be but PETROLEUM?

He bought a SLR camera, Nikon D60 recently and he’s always seen carrying the big bag and a tripod wherever he goes. Credit is due to those who deserve it, and I can’t deny his skills in photography. Though not perfect, but it’s always better than mine. :D

We had Curry Mee, Apom, Harbeng, Sha Hor Fun, and fruit juice here. AGAIN, SCRUMPTIOUS.

We had more, and MORE food like Asam Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Char Kuey Tiow and other tidbits (小食）in Penang and I just couldn’t get enough of it. All I wanted was to EAT EAT and EAT. To prevent hate comments, I better not post the pictures of food here lest people in UK bomb me.. HAHA

~~~We spent our second last day eating and walking (ALOT) around the city of Penang.~~~

We toured the city following to the Heritage Trail, streets after streets. We went to the Khoo’s Clan (Khoo Kongsi), the Carpenter’s Guild, the Museum, St. Peter’s and St. George’s Cathedral just to name a few. We also went to Gurney Plaza a few times… looks like a nice place to shop!

We even went to the Kek Lok Shi, overlooking Penang from the hill at night!

All in all, Penang trip was fun and the food was good but I’m busted. 5 meals a day, each meal with a variety of food, and walking under the hot sun was as bad as going for sauna with the temperature set to 50 Celsius. Thanks kiumo for the stay and I really appreciate that.

Also, I forgot to mention about the dota times we had! :P

Windows 7 - more features!

Some interesting new features I just found out through "What's New in Windows 7" ...

The screen dims out a little to save power. This adaptive display settings is aimed to lengthen the battery life, but I think it's not going to help alot.

The Devices and Printers is a device stage where you deal with all your connected decives, be it through cable or wireless. You can even share your printers with your homegroup easily from this place.. IT'S very convenient..

How can I forget the star feature of Windows 7?

Well, for those who doesn't know, Windows 7 is written to recognise pen input, that is if you can write on your screen.. LOL.

So, for the future laptops, I think most screens can be written on like an electronic art-board, which will very convenient when writing math expression and doing some photoshop things..

One thing I like most is that when I connect my laptop with my home computers through "Homegroup" wirelessly, I can share anything just as if I plugged in a USB pendrive, which is showed in the Computer in a group.

I'm so excited to try it out now..

Now ZS, I used exactly 1 hour to install Windows 7 and the drivers.. so I think clean install makes all the difference, or perhaps...

My review of Windows 7 is almost similar to kiumo's, except that my installing process was a quick one, though I was anticipating a tedious installation process.

Everything was smooth sailing, and the speed of W7 is apparently faster than Vista, and no doubt XP. The booting period is significantly cut short because like kiumo said, you can customize some systems to start first during the boot-up.

One of the eye candy (at least for me) is the bigger-than-usual- taskbar that shows only the symbol of the programs that you opened. This significantly helps in reducing the clusters I always encounter because I always open many, many programs at one instance.

Hovering the pointer over the symbol immediately shows you what it is, so there's no fuss in guessing what that symbol represents.

And my favourite is the new method of clustering the taskbars of the same program. In this case, right clicking the Internet Explorer shows me all the tabs, or even the history pages of IE8. This is definitely one of the best features in W7. I know it'll be even better if used on MSN (how annoying it is when you chat with 7 people at once!)

Another visual improvement in W7 is the new feature where the desktop wallpaper changes at a constant time interval, which can be easily adjusted by the user.

Somehow I can't find words to that can wholly describe W7, Vista's successor. All I can say is that you have to try it out to know it. This review is shallow, in a sense that all that were mentioned are considered my "first impression" and cannot be used to represent the whole new OS.

However, be warned that W7 is still in its beta, so should there be a problem encountered, Windows has their hands off it.. you have to figure it out yourself. So I recommend you to install W7 in a new partition just to try it out.

I've been fiddling with it for a few hours, and I find it great, at least better than XP and Vista because it uses less RAM and it's running at "God-destined speed" as described by most beta users.

Congrats to Windows for this accomplishment, though there're much more to be done. It's high time something like this comes out to cover Vista's marred record. :P

It’s been 4 days since I arrived here in Canberra and to be frank, I enjoy staying indoor more than ever because I brought my laptop.. :D

Well, actually Canberra is not THAT bad, noting the fact that it’s a state the government of Australia poured the most fund into than any other states comparatively – but it has certainly made me appreciate where I live more than ever, MELBOURNE.

We went to the hills (one of which called black mountain) for an aerial view of Canberra city, the War memorial, the Parliament House and … the city itself. It wasn’t too bad though, just a bit boring IMHO, since most of their tourist sites are man-made, even the big lake in the city.. HAHA

(Also, I hereby thank Willie’s uncle, auntie and John for their warm welcome as the host in Canberra!)

The firework was a beauty, and the firework lasted for about 15 minutes. Lying down on the lawn directly opposite where the firework was ignited, we were entirely entranced and mesmerised by the colourful firework and the cheers from the onlookers. All were gaga until the final, strongest BOOM went off. Everyone clapped their hands and subsequently wishing everyone Happy New Year.

2008 had been an exciting and eventful year to me, from getting my A-level result to starting Uni in Melbourne; and like Gen and Soong said, it seems like yesterday.. but I’m sure it’s been quiet for my parents because their offspring are all scattered, striving for a better future – and at their cost (me). I can never thank them enough nor ever repay them for what they’ve given to me, but the ensuant respond of my love for them will be to spend as much quality time with them as I can when I’m back home, I miss them dearly..

Ah.. I’ll be back in Melbourne soon, and in no time, I’ll be in Siang Malam with my family and friends.. right? Right.. Soong? Right.. Goh? right… Chong? Right.. Chai? Right…Gen? Right.. Chang? Right.. Lim? Right..Tan, Chua, Chan, Cheh….? :P

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Farewell

Now that I have the laptop all to myself, I hanker for my sister and my mom to arrogate my laptop for their entertainment. When I have it, I don’t want it; but when I lost it, I miss it.. Well, human are JUST LIKE THAT, aren’t we?

Having said that, I’ve learned since young to cherish every moment with my family, especially their special visit to Melbourne during my (also theirs) holiday – all praise and glory to God for His blessings.

Christmas eve was an unforgettable day – a day none of us can wipe away from our memories albeit the lack of exciting activities or any adrenaline-rush celebration. I know, I know it’s only barbeque, but it’s the time that we all shared, enjoying each others’ company that made this year’s Christmas eve one of the most meaningful day in my life.

As I was appointed to be the chef, I started off grilling the seasoned-beef slices.. Listen: IT WAS AWESOME.. :P I’m not touting O.K.A.Y.!

Just beside the electricity-run barbeque pit, we had steamboat for the soup-lover. The weather was splendid.

My sister, June took over my title as the chef because she wants to take a picture with the apron on :P

Nah.. she’s just taking over so that I can eat.. Thanks sis.. the prawns were scrumptious!

Most of us who were there enjoying the food, weather, and each others’ mere presence.

Just a day before, we went to Harbour Town in Docklands. We went there to SHOP.. THINGS ARE EXTREMELY CHEAP THERE, BUT I DIDN’T GET ANYTHING!! WOW.. since when I became so full with self-control? LOL.. I almost bought a FILA t-shirt at only $12, ADIDAS jacket for only $40, and lots of POLOS with the $15 price tag.. No.. I’m going back there again soon. HAHA

This is Harbour Town, newly opened with many state-of-the-art and energy-efficient + sustainable (whatever Zennway call it) buildings with very intriguing architecture around this shopping haven..

Rich guys toys.. there is a marina just beside Harbour Town (are you telling me rich people come shopping with that?)

This is the 3rd largest EYE after London Eye and Singapore Eye. This is called the Melbourne Eye, I suppose. It’s started operation since last week. One can buy a ride for $29.. SIAO AH?!?

Well, good times always fly, and as I’ve said again AND again, 天下无不散之席。

Yesterday, Boxing day, we sent my mom and sister to the airport, and

there they flew a few thousands of kilometres back to Malaysia.

Everything went back to the ho-hum routine. Aunty Joyce, my uncle and his family all went to Sydney the same day, so now I’m home alone, with my brother-in-law occasionally going out.. BUT A GOOD NEWS TO MYSELF… AND TO MY MOM:

I’M GOING TO CANBERRA TOMORROW MORNING FOR A WEEK!! My brother-in-law is bringing me together with him to visit his aunty in Canberra!!!!! WOOHOO!! Another photo shooting time!!!!

Mom and sis have been here for nearly 6 full days. We’ve done so much and we surely did enjoy ourselves around the city of Melbourne.

We’re all exhilarated but at the same time fagged because we just came back from cherries picking from the country side. So I’ll do what I’ve always done: picture do the talking.

We went around CBD, the city. This is Melbourne Central Christmas decoration.

It was raining, so we decided to go shopping at Chadstone – Myer and David Jones.

Although there’s a probability that it’s bigger than MidValley - and undeniably more beautiful -

but patriotic as I am, I will still say Malaysia has better shopping complexes.

It was also a graduation day for my Uncle, so we decided to dine at the Sofia’s.. We had 2 large plates of pasta and a big bowl of pasta.. and last of all, a 25cm tall bowl of ice cream!!

Australians love skulls.

nep.. let me rephrase..

MANY Australians ADORE skulls, which makes me wonder whether it’s me who does not know how to appreciate the new wave of fashion or them with a bad taste in ‘contemporary art’.

Nowadays, when the younger, hippy teenagers buy shirts or any of their attire, they prefer those with skulls printed on it, and hence giving birth to the SKULL market in Australia. You’ll know what I mean when you see the following photos:

Can someone explain to me what’s so attractive about skulls?

And trust me, for that half-hour I was browsing through the guys section, the SKULL market is not any smaller than the normal tops and men’s polo. Cheers, OZ..

A trip to Geelong – we went to visit Doulos! She went to Malaysia once, but I am not sure whether she stopped at Penang or Port Klang. For those who don’t know, Doulos is a ship dedicated for missionary activities and a “library on water”, have been in service for more than 50 years, and she is retiring soon..

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO MY BIG SIS!

I’m deeply sorry for forgetting your birthday and I hope you don’t mind. I was rather busy lately and forgot about it totally. I felt very bad so I made a call to you today but you were busy working. So, I decided to dedicate a post to you.

I found out that I have very few photos taken with you, so I have to post this pic with me looking so ugly back from Nasional Service, but I guess you wouldn’t mind ‘cause it’ll make you look more beautiful!

I’ve always been the one to disappoint you right? When I was very young I always annoy you with tricks and distract you when you were studying.. HAHA, I still remember asking you the drawings (Biology) you pasted on the cupboard and if I’m not wrong, it was about ovary.. HAHA.

I used to treat you just like anybody else when I was young, but I do not know since when you became the person whom I look up to, the person I respect. You have always been very independent, outspoken, outgoing and active in school activities, and sometimes I even wish I can be like you, good in sports and studies, even till today. :D

Well, time flies wait for no man. You are now working and I’m in Uni.. but still I disappoint you.. I had to miss your wedding, and now I forgot your birthday..

Nonetheless, I send you my best wishes for your birthday. I’ll keep you in my prayer and may God continue to be present in your life and give you the happiness and joy no other people can give. May the Lord also continue to bless you as He has always do..

He is leaving for UK to further his studies. And man, I’m gonna miss you so much, although we are already so far away, but anyhow you are leaving to somewhere further.. and that means we’re less likely to meet each other in near future.. T.T

This sounds gay you may say, but I’m gonna say it anyway. I treasure you friendship and I hope we will see each other soon (may be 3 years?).

Ask my Mom, she’ll tell you I love to wash my stuffs, especially things that shouldn’t go into a washing machine.

Twice USB pendrive, I was fortunate enough to run away with no damage at all.

My first handphone.. "I didn't do this purposely to get a new phone!!" - J220 (The one techie say good speaker de.. dark blue)

Once wallet, hmm.. nowadays money are quite invincible.

A few times of my house key, fortunately not here in Australia, where I’m using remote key.

Umpteen times of Scott/Deluxe tissue paper… white dusty dots all over my shirts.

Today, another record for wallet:

I really don’t mean to do this because I forgot that it’s still in my jeans pocket. Oh, do take note of the 3 Arif class photo I kept till today, it survived the tsunami.

While drying up using my laptop’s heat sink fan and IKEA table lamp, I can’t help but to miss Malaysia seeing those familiar cards I have.. (Some of these cards are kept in another wallet that Kai Jia gave me)

Question is: HOW COME MELBOURNE IS STILL USING PAPER CARDS FOR THEIR PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKETS? Now I really doubt I can use the tix already, since it’s crumpled… sigh

Thank God my license and important ones are kept in the second wallet, THANKS KAI JIA!

This Malay idiom sums it all, noting that any habits or teachings taught during the childhood will mould a person’s future personality. Apart from that, it also suggested the undeniable strong influence parents have on their children when their “ubun masih lembik”.

On the contrary, peer pressure is less mentioned when it comes to what shapes a person’s behaviour when they are older.

Just a few minutes ago, I was watching the news on the television and tragedy plagued an Australian family because a child (son) who was properly brought up brought a bunch of drug addicts back home and “rampage” his own house while his parents went for vacation.

Question is: Who, apart from himself who got lost somehow, is to be blamed for his misbehaviour and demeanour? More of his parents or his friends?

I say his friends.

But this argument can never end.

My One-week Mid-Term Holiday

Wasted.

Not exactly wasted in doing nothing, but I wasn’t able to do any studies. :-(

Saturday and Sunday: Relax. That’s what I do for the first 2 days, which is good!

Tues: Went out for lunch with Sheila and Zi Sheng, had a good time chatting our time away! Woohoo!

Too bad TiTo (is that how I spell his name?) couldn’t make it..

SiChuan Fried Rice and the shop, so packed and so famous people have to queue up to enter the shop! –Rose Garden on Elizabeth St. (I’m advertising! You know what you should do! lol)

Friday night: Took the train and bus to my church in Glen Waverly. Got lost on the way because I took the wrong bus, so I walked for about an hour before I reach my church – beside the busy road.. LOL

Saturday: Slept over at Sam’s and went “relaxing” again with Aunty Joyce. We sat down at Mc Cafe and ordered drinks. So joyful looking at the surrounding trees and kids playing at the playground.

Saturday night: Ray’s birthday party, THEME: Criminal justice system. Will post about this later.. Went on till midnight and slept over at Sam’s again. Reached home at 2am.. XD

Sunday: Church then home then sleep then wake up, and it’s Monday again.. sigh.. Can someone find the word “study”?

Lord your will be done

My dear friends,

I’m not sure how many of you already know about this news, but I’ve known it for awhile and shared with some people about it. I only decided to write a post now because then, I wasn’t sure whether it is good for me to publicly write about Yi Zheng’s problem. However, after so many days of prayer and effort in search for his brother, I think I should share this and ask all of my friend to pray for him and his family. I just couldn’t bear knowing how hurtful it is for Aunty Kim Guat, Yi Zheng and family and do nothing here while we celebrate our “merdeka”. So, I urge anyone who is reading my blog to pray for Hwa Yi-Jien, Yi Zheng’s brother and have faith that God’s plan is way above all the others..

I know it has been very vague about what happened to Yi-Jien because I have no mood to write anything about it, so please read the posts written by his friend in this link and please click “next post” until 2nd of September to better understand what had happened in the past 2 weeks.

Also remember to pray for Yi Zheng, his brother, his sister, and Aunty Kim Guat and whoever that is with them.

Happy Merdeka

Happy 51st “Merdeka”, not Happy 51st Malaysia Independence Day. 31st August now becomes just another celebration called Merdeka, or what many presume it to be – a holiday. Deplorably, this is what some people commented about our Independence Day because Merdeka seems to have lost its meaning, tarnished by the current politic instability.

3 more hours to go before the 1st of September slips in, and 3 more hours to go Malaysia is going to have another year of political instability. Not that I wish this to happen, but I couldn’t help but to give a “death sentence” for the coming year of 2009 judging from the on-going unstableness.

Anybody ever wondered why it is always the leader giving speeches to “motivate” the citizens for the coming year but not the other way round? Is it because we, the rakyat, never give encouragements or ever produce any edifying suggestions? Or may be the leaders do not need encouragements? Or is it because our words fall onto deaf ears?

No matter whether our voices reach the Prime Minister or not, I have a message for our beloved Prime Minister, YABDS Abdullah Badawi:

First of all, my compliment for your work/job done for the rakyat for the past few years. Yes, you have worked hard to be our leader and you deserve a compliment because not everyone has the ability (or the opportunity for the minority) to stand on a podium of a country’s arena and decides the directions of every activity and sculpting the future of a country. You must have strived tirelessly to be here today.

Also, I thank you for the generous freedom of speech to the citizen (initially) because I notice that we rakyat found our voice (oh, so it’s not you who had deaf ears, it’s us who lost our voice) when you succeeded Tun Mahathir.

However, I would like to encourage you to be bolder in your decisions, but at the same time being righteous in your decisions, and also being confident in your decisions WITH CONSCIENCE. A leader is destine to receive respect and submission from the people he leads, but he who does not lead with just and righteousness is doomed to be overthrown.

Therefore, a phenomenon known as whistleblowing occurred and chaos ruptured. Worse still, this weakness is taken advantage by the oppositions and everything began to crumble. All this may have been a result of a corrupted and unjust government, but it all stems from one thing: the selfish and unrighteous (poor) leadership.

Judge not and you be not judged, so I don’t want to pinpoint anyone right now, but had there been leaders who act with just and righteousness, practices fair-play and lead with a heart for the citizen (not himself), will Malaysia now celebrate its 51st MALAYSIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY? and not merely “Merdeka” which means independent, but whose independence? the Malays? the Chinese? the Indians?

Independence means that the nation is free from any imposed political domination, citizens are sovereign and are masters of their own destiny. For that to be true, they must at least be able to think freely, express and exchange opinion, and, obtain and disseminate information without fear or favour………We should be proud that as citizens, we are a truly sovereign people, ruled by nothing more than the collective free will of our citizenship. We invite all Malaysians to ponder before lighting fireworks and joining the parade: Are we truly free? Are we truly sovereign? – aliran.com

Well, too much said, and you know way better than us, my beloved Prime Minister. You know more than anyone that leading without direction is analogous to blind leading the blind. Alexander Hamilton once said this: “Those who stand for nothing fall for everything”, and I urge you to take heed of these words of wisdom.

Finally, best wishes to the coming political tsunami set to conquer in another 16 days. I hope you can stand strong and continue to lead WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUST, regardless of creed and colour, that is, if you survive.

As a footnote, please do know that you don’t have to learn to get respect and submission from the rakyat and your subordinate, you earn it through your leadership.

Today is a special day for Yi Ming, because today is the day she’ll be leaving her warm and loving nest, in search for a brighter future through studies.

Like some of us who are fortunate and blessed, she’ll be furthering her studies oversea, in her case Hong Kong. Today will be her first day conquering the world alone. She’ll be leaving her family and literally “flying” to search for her own food, or rather, the “art” of catching her own food.

We have been good friends since we met in Inti, and I got to know she had a rather close knitted family, and there’s going to be a tough time for her at the airport I guess. Nonetheless, I want to convey my best wishes to Yi Ming, my sister in Christ. I also pray that the Lord will grant her the protection she needs most when she’s alone in a foreign land. Remember that the Lord is always with you, no matter you know it or not, He longs for you to draw closer to Him!

Well, it’s almost time to fly, better check your packing soon. Best regards from all of us (anyone with me?). See you and take care and be strong, home sick is a must for a period, but make sure you can stand up and sprint ahead to your goal as soon as possible.

Blog-Worthy?

Nothing much for the pass 2 weeks, that’s why I did not blog.

But today is different, because I went to Richmond AOG again, this time with Zheng Wei! Even met my senior and junior from Seremban on our way to the church, Peter & Paul Lim.. BELIEVE IT OR NOT..

The service was fantastic, definitely learned lots of things, and laughed too much perhaps…

Come lunch time, we (now with Keng Wei also) decided to be more adventurous: hunt for new food. So I suggested an Indian shop, all you can eat and it’s cheap. Not opened.

Then the shop next to it: a Korean-Chinese restaurant, we hopped in and ordered, with some talent of us learning korean and speaking korean to the waitress.. but thought Keng Wei can “guo leong jiu”, but in the end don’t want to perform.

Well, at least we learned how to say excuse me in Korean! ** the food was awesome, huge serving.. but can still be improved XD

Very interesting day.. blog-worthy? YES way! it’s been a long time I did not spend some time with my friends, and I felt so good learning so much at church today. :-)

A Lavish Dinner

Sunday the 3rd of August was my Uncle’s birthday and Ah Yee decided to celebrate his birthday in one of the city’s restaurant. Coincidently, Ah Yee got a restaurant card from her colleague as a gift and so we headed towards NOBU Japanese Restaurant in the Crown’s.

Just as we enter the restaurant, we were greeted by some people – in Jap.. I really couldn’t figure out what they said when they greeted us.. sounds so NOT Jap.. LOL.. Then a waitress came and offered to keep our coat which made me feel like some business people.. as if im someone who’s 衣来伸手, but memang it’s their service la..

This is the place where people sit and watch the conveyor belt ferry the plates of sushi.. nope.. we weren’t there.

We were seated to a table and given 3 menus which made me speechless when I opened it. Everything is SUPER expensive judging from the size of the servings. We pondered on the menu and didn’t know what to order, only after about half-an-hour we decided to take orders.

“Squid and Mushroom Pasta with some Special Sauce” - $22

- very exotic and “full in taste” as I describe it

"Black Cod Miso” – $43

- the best fish I’ve eaten in my life

“Roasted Poussin” with some very special sauce - $34

- pronounced as Poo’sang, the best chicken I’ve eaten in my life.

- well, guess what, it’s one of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life.. I just dont know how they make it. The taste is so good, and by no means we were under the impression that it’s expensive and thus they are delicious. THEY ARE REALLY SCRUMPTIOUS.

Later, we went out to have ice cream as dessert, non-stop INDULGENCE!!

I wish my uncle Happy Birthday and hope that he enjoyed himself. This is a very good experience for both my uncle and I. May the Lord continue to work in his life and bless him!

How Beautiful

As the sun sets yesterday, it was drizzling and then rain quickly followed. As I sat in the cosy building looking out at the rain through a huge glass panel, I felt a surge of joy, because the rain has brought me back the good’ol days !

I remember sitting under the roofed pergola at my house’s foyer, caressing my dogs and chatting with my family while drinking steaming hot Milo.

I also remember walking in the rain with my crazy INTI friends, ignoring the cold and the fact that we were having A-level exam.. shhh.. my mom doesn’t know this.. HAHA

I also remember swimming in the rain (without thunder la of course).. looking up to the sky with the droplets falling onto my face haphazardly.

And also the time when I hit under the huge comforter on my bed when I was young, listening to the rain, and only listening.. doing nothing else.

The time when we ran for shelter on the day Aunty Joyce took us out for a walk along St Kilda Beach when the rain suddenly poured.

How beautiful it is to have memories… so beautiful...

cloudy and cold

First day back to Uni, felt lazy yet excited. Didn’t have mood to listen to any lectures or tutes because they are so boring, for the moment, very interesting to have a Russian lady as my lecturer though. So I decided to watch movie with my fellow mates, since it’s been almost a month we didn’t meet each other (actually the real reason is because my friend Paul, thanks for his kindness, paid for the ticket.. so I get to watch it for free.. :-) - that’s $15 x 3 = RM 45

We went into Cinema 11, which is HUGE. Never have I seen any cinema that size (almost 450 seats). The Dark Knight was the movie we were watching. Overall very happy today because the movie is good and the seats are very comfy (all with arm rest). Ended the day tired but happy.

raining and chilly

Had C++ lecture in HOYTS Cinema again, but this time a smaller theatre – Cinema 7. This is due to the lack of lecture theatres in RMIT because of the recent increase in the number of students enrolling in RMIT. Generally happy and relaxed today because there’s nothing much to do yet, but yea, there’s assignment on the second day already!.. Went to ZW’s hostel in the afternoon and went back home after that.

drizzling and chilly

Took 2 pieces of pizza to Uni, planning to go through the excruciatingly long lectures and lab of the day by eating something to calm myself. Fortunately, it’s only briefing of the course and labs for the first week. Very excited because we’ll be given electric circuit boards and lots and lots of electronic devices! LOL.. besides, WE ARE GOING TO LEARN SOLDERING CIRCUITS AND ELECTRONICS DEVICES!! WOO HOO!!

cold and foggy

Started my day off with a heart of joy, because of the fog! I couldn’t see things further than 10 metres.. WOOHOO!!.. well, because of that, everything I did today is super fun and nice even though it may be ordinary. Oh ya, also installed LINUX UBUNTU dual boot with my Vista, it’s so cool and I’ve so much more to learn, from the internet? Books? or Zi Sheng?

sunny but cold

Excited about the day but fell asleep in the train. Overshot 2 stations before I realize it.

I learned new stuff almost everyday, but today is probably one of the best. MatLab is “peningly” interesting! As for my last lecture of the day (about 1pm) I walked out of the lecture room immediately after it finishes because it’s my first day working!

Well, the work isn’t that hard, but I’ve got a lot to learn. Earning some money makes my day even happier.. :-)

Despite the heavy load and tiring course I have, I still remember my family and friends. I make it a point to pray for you all whenever I think of you all. To my parents and sisters, to my ACS friends, to my INTI friends, to my RMIT friends, to my church friends, I pray that God will plant the heart of joy in you ALL like He does to me, and bless you too! But I also pray that God will help me go through the hardship I’m facing right now.. (not studies).. HAHA.. see you all everyone!

Melbourne can be considered a melting pot of culture with uncountable immigrants from every corner of the world, hence the type of food available is also “nearing infinity”. But now I’m going to post only one type of food here because I already have tonnes of things to do even before the Uni starts, got to prepare myself for the C++ lab tomorrow.. zzz..

Today, a gloomy Sunday, we went to Indochine for our lunch after church. Indochine is a Vietnamese restaurant, but not as old fashioned as the ones we always see. This restaurant is contemporary and more exclusive, but the best thing is that albeit the cosy ambience, the price of the food is not very expensive!

The serving is HUGE!

So it’s good, it’s cheap and it bloats my stomach.. HAHA. This is a bowl of “Rice Noodle with Fresh and Well-cooked Beef”, so basically it has some cooked beef, and some almost raw. Served with raw bean sprouts and a tinge of lemon juice, this bowl of noodle is delectable and almost perfect! However, we all know AGINOMOTO has a big role in this soup.. no doubt about it.

These are my church friends, and ahem.. notice how someone concentrates in eating his bowl of “Cambodian-styled Noodle”!

Lot’s of Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne, and so are Asian food, Italian food, English food and also: AFRICAN FOOD

This is Mc Africa, the 3rd burger of the 5-continent burger series! GEN! This post is almost an imitation of yours! HAHA.. but coincident only la.. Went to eat Vietnamese food, then also got a picture of Mc Africa, so blog about it lo.. HAHA

Well, it’s Mc Asia now and next comes Mc Australia. I’m actually quite excited to eat and see how it’ll be. :-)

Idle

My exam ended last month on the 23rd of June. Until today, it calculates to be about one week short to a month, and what have I been doing?

Yes, IDLE. HAHA, total inactivity, inertness and definitely BORED.

Fortunately, yesterday Sam invited some of us to Richmond AOG and almost instinctively, I said: Okay! I’ll bring ZW and YY together with me. HAHA.. so what happened was I went to meet them (ZW & YY) and had our dinner at NELAYAN (Indonesian Food) before we headed 10 Griffith St, where Richmond AOG is situated.

Interestingly, the first thing ZW did there was to find the toilet. HAAHAHAHA.. he experienced some disturbing pain in his stomach and so there he went into the toilet, for almost 20 minutes. XD

The worship session was awesome and it all ended well. Ray sent ZW and YY back to their hostel and we went for supper until 12.10pm!! that is so so freaking late for me! HAHA.. but I don’t mind at all because I really enjoyed myself spending time with those new people. (Lots of Malaysians and Singaporean surprisingly)

Then it’s back to idleness. HAHA, today was so bored till some mushrooms grew on my head just like what happened to YY. LOL, but it’s going to be over soon.. because my Uni starts next Monday! WOOHOO!!

Versus

It’s going to be fun meeting my friends again. However, I’m feeling a bit nervous because according to the course guide for the subject next semester, students are expected to:

1) Have basic programming skills such as MatLab and C++

2) Hacking ability

I was shocked when I read this and hehe.. hope I can do well this semester also la…

Ok la.. idleness starting soon once I finish writing this.. :)

Amplifying my heart’s voice for my beloved country, Malaysia

No one will agree more than Zennway that I am always talking bad about my country, Malaysia. However, unknown to many that actually deep down inside my heart, I love Malaysia. I love the food, the people, the culture (not all though), the multi-ethnic society and the beautiful places scattered around Malaysia.

Then why do I always have the foulest word when I’m comparing other countries with Malaysia? Why do I always talk bad about Malaysia? In fact, after spending a few months in Australia I notice that I grow to love Australia so much that it makes me hurt, saddened by the truth that my home country cannot do as well as other country albeit the blessing of petroleum, in abundance! That just shows that I still love Malaysia, I wouldn’t even have that country’s name in my mind for a second if it’s not the case.

Well, may be I’m a little over-demanding if I compare Malaysia with Australia, but if I were to view this matter frankly, I cannot bear the pain of uncovering more and more truth about Malaysia.

If we were to face the fact, no matter how hurtful it is, I can say that we are losing in terms of telecommunication system; infrastructure (which includes public transports), when we used to have one of the world best roads; education system; political stability; economy control; financial stability; and perhaps also the principle of equality and justice.

Boasting to be one of the cheapest tourists’ spots, Malaysia could have been one of the best place to visit, and would never have lost to both Thailand and Singapore. With such a rich cultural background and beautiful beaches on the east coast, not forgetting the plethora of scrumptious food available in just a few Ringgit, I wonder why 9 out of 10 people that I asked going to South East Asia visit “Thailand and then fly to Singapore”. Is there a problem with the soil in Malaysia??

What is more hurtful than being discriminated by my own country? Leave the political opportunities issue aside, the discrimination in our education system is so apparent and axiomatic. My love for my country crushed when I am being put into this unfair system unwillingly that doesn’t even acknowledge the existence of meritocracy. “Qualification” has been replaced by “kulitfication” and all that’s left is a bright future being snubbed, be it the future of a deserving student or even the our beloved country. So much for helping to build a nation based on knowledge.

Worse still, my last bit of hope for a revival of Malaysia economy boost was demolished when I read an article found in Lim Kit Siang’s blog. A student posted some questions for JPA department and what I am going to copy-and-paste here caught my attention immediately, and I guess my heartbeat stopped for a second or two:

iv. orang bukan melayu terhutang budi kepada orang melayu

- This is the sample question of “mock examination” for JPA Scholar students who are to be

sent to Canada sponsored by JPA. The choice number iv. is most racist and offensive, as

without Orang Bukan Melayu, i.e. Chinese and Indians, Malaysia won’t get independence.

Imagine all chosen JPA scholars are brain-washed to remember this: Non-Malays are in debt to the Malays because they are the one and only who are willing to die for the country! Please leave your thoughts to yourself, but please be reminded you are to love your country and not curse her because they lent you a piece of land to live.

Besides that, I can be 100% sure that NO ONE SOUL that has a brain that God has given to us to discern and differentiate will say that “Matriculation is equivalent to STPM”. This sentence came out from one of the minister, and likewise, keep your thoughts to yourself and love your country because they are helping the deserving 90% students to get into University easily, so much for closing the social-economy gap that existed since Merdeka. Well, nothing can let them see that this has been going on since 1956 and had not yet produce any desiring results.

Moving on to economy, how can a country blessed with so much petroleum, natural resources, good soil (palm oil) and most importantly the pool of knowledge that is needed to build a giant nation, grow just that tad bit since Merdeka? Is Malaysia doomed to be overshadowed by Singapore and Thailand forever?

Politically, I understand that no one country is spared from corruption cases and political drama, but Malaysia is so different from all the others because they have this system of “close-one-eye” that is so rare in this era of globalisation. Everyone is fighting against corruption and our beloved minister was closing one eye for his own benefit.

Malaysia could have been such a great nation, and Malaysia would have done so much for the rakyat (citizen) had they include everyone in a fair race and not side-tracked by the colour of the skin. A fair play is not just an act of democracy, it portrays love and care for the rakyat.

I know I shouldn’t be talking too much because I’ll never know how difficult it is to manage a country, but since the time when I know how to analyse, my heart reach out for the country - a country destitute of love and justice. I urge all of you, my readers to pray for this country and advocate for balance, moderation and a fair play in everything the government implements.

All I can say is that I still love my country despite the chaos that ruptured since who knows when..

What I learned from the Bible:

Sunny

I woke up at 7:04am because it’s a special day for many, for the children who are considered disadvantaged. Zennway and I took the train at 8:10am and hop onto another train towards Glen Waverly at the Southern Cross Station.

We reached the church a few minutes late. Since it’s better late than never, we rushed straight for the briefing ignoring the punctuality issue because we were all excited to visit the Jericho Community House, a place where they day-care the disadvantaged kids.

A convoy of about 10 cars headed towards the Jericho centre after the briefing. I was positioned as the General where I have to overlook the crowd of kids to make sure that they do not run out of boundary and also to prepare the instruments needed by the coordinators.

It was fun mingling with the kids, ranging between the age of 5 to 8. We played many games and also had some time chatting. We also had barbeque (very delicious sausages and drumsticks!) for our lunch and the day ended very smoothly. I can see that the kids enjoyed themselves, and so do all of us who are involved.

To keep this short, I do a list a conclusion that can sum up what I thought about this day:

1) I was amazed how responsive and well-taught the children are in the Community House

2) I am so blessed to have a complete and happy family that loves me so much

3) I am so blessed to have Jesus as my Lord.

BUT, however well-taught they are, hyperactive always comes along with kids. I was so exhausted after a day of running about with them and unfortunately, what I wish wouldn’t happen happened, I snored for a while on my way back in one of the church member’s car!.. HAHA

Sunny, but cold

I went to the Chinese Home cell at Uncle Joe’s house in the East of Melbourne. I really enjoyed worshipping God with them and I learned a few things which can be summarized in the following pointers:

1) Revival starts from the smallest institution, family.

2) Even if you doubt, never disobey God’s command

3) God has His way in doing things that man may see it as impossible/ridiculous

By the way, the scripture we studied was Judges chapter 6 and 7, which talks about the tasks given to Gideon.

Cloudy and VERY COLD

I woke up with pain in my throat and constantly shivers due to the fever I’m having. If I’m not wrong, I caught cold yesterday during the journey to Uncle Joe’s house because I forgot to bring my jacket.

I felt so sick, but today is the day Zennway is moving out to the city. I must be well to help him. So I drank lots of water and felt better. Helped him packed a bit (by my mouth only.. haha, too weak to help him physically) and then we started off to the city. Ah Yee drove him to Unilodge and we carried his multitude of bags to his room. The room isn’t very big but, as I say: livable. I’m sure he’ll blog about it once he has internet service.

I’m sure I’ll miss the day when he helped me out in house chores and also played dota with me in GGC.. HAHA

Later, we went to Footscray to buy some fruits for juicing and also some cereals for breakfast. Came home exhausted but calm, still sick though. Flu, fever, sore throat, headache and coughing all came as a “package” and I’m sleeping soon.. I really need the hibernation I did not have for a long time. It’s 8:12pm, and I guess I’d better hit the sack now if I want a speed recovery. Bye all.

This looks much more like a diary eh.. that’s why the long post. Really looking forward to going back to UNI.. XD

My Blogging Behaviour

These days, I’ve been very lazhi (lazy) to blog, I then notice my blogging behaviour – I tend to blog more during exam period.

I even started my blog (in Friendster, 2005) because of mid-year exam!

It’s either I’m too free during exam period, or there’s some kind of pressure that needs to be released through writing, or rather, typing. I think the latter one explains better.

Like Beat once said, exam’s like a propeller for bloggers.. if there’s no exam, there’ll not be a heart to blog.. HAHA (So I’m waiting for exam period before Beat starts blogging again)

Besides, I tend to blog after an interesting event, which is normal to all bloggers la..

After reading Kerry’s post, I kinda miss Seremban Jusco adi and my family.. HAHA

*Good news of the day: I woke up at 6am this morning to arrange my Uni timetable, and I get to arrange it as I want it! Hooray! (was shocked that it’s almost full by the time I log in, and the time-tabling system starts at 6.00am.. =.=)

Torment

There had been endless of thoughts rumbling at the back of my brain for the past weeks. Albeit it’s been almost two weeks since the last day of exam, my mind had been rather restless on the contrary. Many of them are impermanent, but some are fastened dead in my head.

These thoughts are very random, but those locked dead in my brain really impacted and changed me from the inside out. One of them, among others, is a revelation of who I am when I face certain people. Briefly explained, I find myself not being genuine and NEVER confident in the inside, although I may look the contrary outwardly.

These thoughts make me very afraid of myself.

I confided this, but it only helps a tad bit in, sort of, forgiving myself; but at the same time I find myself being worse, stumbling upon more of the “others” in me, or of me, when I meet different (certain) people.

Other thoughts are equally condescending and it’s an understatement to write it down because these thoughts can’t be described merely by words. So I pray that God will help me in this matter. >.<

May be it’s just stress heh?
